Raves for the Moby Wrap

I've already learned about how great the Moby Wrap is as a baby carrier and now it looks like others have realized just how wonderful the Moby. It recently received the 2007 Baby & Children's Product News Reader's Favorite Award and even celebrities are catching Moby fever. You can see a picture of Maggie Gyllenhaal wearing her daughter Ramona at Celebrity Baby Blog.
Way to go Moby Wrap!

Mama Sets an Example
.jpg)
Ten years after I entered college, I finally graduated this summer. During my decade of higher education I attended three school, changed my major three times, moved to Dallas and back, married one man, gave birth to one child, accumulated thousands of dollars in school loans, worked countless jobs, and learned a lot. I never thought I would actually use my business degree but it has come in handy for my small business (http://www.woollybugs.com/).

I won't make my children attend college just for the hell of it, but I will stress to them how great having a college degree feels when you accomplish it for yourself. And if I can do it, so can they.

All Free & Clear
All Free & Clear sucks! I want to like it as a detergent; I really do. But it doesn't clean off a stain to save your life. I assume that it cleans my diapers (and clothing) to a sanitary point, but it will NOT get out stains. Small stains like dropped food on t-shirts won't come out!
I think I am extra upset with All Free & Clear at this point because I bought such a huge tub of it and I still have over half the tub to go. I hate to buy a new detergent when I have one laying around, but I just can't take the insanity anymore. Lesson has been learned to try out the small size first.
We aren't too sensitive in my family to chemicals, so I am going back to Tide Free. Anyone want a half-used jug of All Free & Clear??? :)

Cloth Diaper Conversations

When my friends and I get together for a playgroup we often spend hours talking about cloth diapers. How can something so mundane excite mothers across the country? After all these are just diapers.
First of all, cloth diapering is a movement and those who choose this natural path are often proud of their choices. Who wouldn't be proud of reducing their household waste by fifty percent?. Talking about cloth diapers is just another form of advocacy.
Secondly, the cloth diapering world has generally been an underground world. Not many people have cloth diapers available at their local stores which leads to the question about where you buy your cloth diapers (generally online). Which brands work best for you? Do you use prefolds or pocket diapers? What detergents work best? This list can go on for hours. Those that choose to cloth diaper are intelligent consumers who will spend hours making decisions for their child.
Finally, cloth diapers are cute! They are a fashion statement and what group of women doesn't talk about shoes or other pieces of clothing? How often have you seen a great shirt on a friend and asked her where she bought it? In the past 18 months I have spent a far greater amount of money on cloth diapers than I have on clothes for myself. In fact, I can't remember the last brand of new clothes I bought for myself but I certainly remember the last diapers I bought for Jackson.
One thing is for sure . . . I never expected to be so passionate about cloth diapers before I became a mom. I'm sure I would have rolled my eyes had I seen a group of women talking about diapers for an hour, but times change. At this point in my life, talking about cloth diapers is immensely more fun than talking about the best bar in town. I love motherhood!
